The MAISON MARTINIQUE a Caribbean Villa from our Country French House Plans Series.....

Evoking the plantation style of the Leeward Islands and Jamaica.    The Martinique is a house plan that we developed after several years of work and in the Caribbean.   It's a French island style rarely seen in the continental  U.S. but we believe a style more than wLR-French Country House Plansorthy of reproduction.  The architecture is ideally suited to the warm weather or lifestyle, as a beachfront cottage, or as a summer home anywhere.  The form originally evolved from the British, French and Dutch settlers who came to the islands in the 17th and 18th Century to make their fortunes with sugar and fruit plantations.  The homes are generally referred to in the Tropics as "Planter's Houses".  Some still stand on verdant hillsides overlooking long neglected fields.  A great many have become the prized possessions of generations of Islanders, still providing welcome shade on their wrapping verandahs and shuttered parlors.  The architectural detailing is a mix of European classical and African art with a whimsical light hearted touch like the people who live in them.  If you'd like to learn more about the Architecture see our section on a History of the Caribbean Style.

This Country French House Plans version of the Planter's House uses the wrap around porch and shuttered balcony as found in original versions of these homes. Kit-French Country House Plans A classic European entrance pediment frames the main entry.  The gingerbread trim is large scaled, created from tropical foliage silhouettes.  The rails are Tub-French Country House PlansBritish "Union Jack".  The home features an open main floor plan framed on nearly all side with continuous French Doors opening onto shaded porches.  The First Floor holds a large open eat-in Kitchen with walk-in Pantry and Bar.   A full Bath and Laundry with outside access provides for clean-up after the pool or beach  before entering the main living space.  At the 2nd Floor the Master Suite is complete with spa and large shower and includes walk-in closets for both him and her.  A  Family Room convertible to a fifth bedroom, a full Bath and Guest Room complete this floor.  All 2nd Floor rooms have direct access to outside balconies. The 3rd Floor with romantic sloped ceilings contains two children size bedrooms or space for one or two private Offices.
